Técnicas Reunidas in the IBEX ESG

BME is committed to sustainable finance through the generation of ESG indexes, where Técnicas Reunidas is ranked, for the second consecutive year, as one of the companies with the highest recognition in this area.

Bolsas y Mercados Españoles (BME) launched its IBEX ESG index in 2023, highlighting the environmental, social and governance aspects of Técnicas Reunidas. The reason for highlighting this new Sustainability Index is that more and more investors, shareholders and institutions require more information from the company, they are not only interested in the economic part. 

To be eligible for BME, companies must be part of the IBEX 35 or IBEX Medium Cap. In addition, they must comply with the United Nations Global Compact Principles and meet various exclusion criteria related to business activities critical to sustainability. The index is reviewed annually in September, and that is when we have been chosen again to be part of this group of sustainable companies.

This year, the IBEX ESG has increased the number of companies in the IBEX ESG from 46 to 49, demonstrating the growing commitment of the business sector to ESG (environmental, social and governance) criteria. Of these companies, 31 are part of the IBEX 35, while the remaining 18 belong to the IBEX Medium Cap, which groups 20 companies. This increase reinforces the trend towards the integration of ESG principles into business models, underscoring the importance of continuing to promote sustainable and responsible practices at the corporate level.

With this initiative, BME has taken a further step towards promoting sustainable investments in the Spanish market by supporting and promoting sustainable business practices in Spain.
